Effective Negotiation Styles for Women – Finding Your Negotiations Voice
April 13 @ 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm
Presented by Dr. Deborah Streeter, Professor Emeritus and Faculty Director, The Bank of America Institute for Women’s Entrepreneurship at Cornell University, SC Johnson College of Business
Research studies show that women, even high-ranking women in leadership roles, are not achieving comparable results compared to men when it comes to negotiations. Women often feel they must adapt their negotiation style, which can sometimes feel inauthentic. This program will help participants identify and address the internal and external factors that may make them less apt to negotiate and talk about ways to be more effective negotiators.
Dr. Deborah Streeter, The Bruce F. Failing Sr, Professor of Personal Enterprise at Cornell University, challenges learners to evaluate their negotiation style through the lens of gender and use their emotional intelligence to tailor their style to any situation. Participants will explore advanced negotiation techniques that help women capitalize on their strengths and avoid triggering the double bind in negotiations.
The webinar will cover some standard negotiation advice and will explore techniques and tools that can help participants find an authentic and effective negotiating voice. Dr. Streeter will talk about the act of negotiating and women’s propensity to ask for what they want and need. This webinar will be highly interactive and includes use of real-time polling, video clips from real world experts, many practical examples, and mini-case studies to illustrate important points.
In this program you will learn:
- The act of negotiating and women’s propensity to ask for what they want and need
- How to find your authentic voice to create an effective negotiation style
