AmericanHort is one of fourteen organizations representing specialty crop growers who are urging U.S. Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) Administrator Kevin Shea to consider increasing funding allocation for the National Clean Plant Network by at least $1.125 million in the upcoming FY 2023 program cycle to ensure clean plant centers are able to continue to provide critical services.

3/31/2022 – The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Department of Labor (DOL) today announced the forthcoming publication of a joint temporary final rule to make available an additional 35,000 H-2B temporary nonagricultural worker visas for the second half of fiscal year (FY) 2022. These visas will be set aside for U.S. employers seeking to employ additional workers on or after April 1, 2022, through Sept. 30, 2022. View full statement.

8/12/2021 – COVID -19 Vaccinations – Frequently Asked Questions – Employer driven requirements and/or incentives for vaccination against COVID-19 are a current hot topic. This coincides with an increased public campaign by the federal government and health officials to support vaccination of all eligible individuals against COVID-19. This document will focus on the federal laws surrounding vaccination incentives and requirements in the workplace. 6/23/2021 – Supreme Court Decision on “Right To Take Access” – On June 23, 2021, the Supreme Court of the United States (“SCOTUS”) handed down a 6 to 3 decision announcing that a California regulation that grants labor organizations’ “right to take access” to an agricultural employer’s property in order to solicit support for unionization is a per se taking. Here are more details on this update.
