The 2018 Sustainability Award is a national award presented by AmericanHort and MPS. The award recognizes green industry businesses leading in sustainability practices in the areas of crop protection agents, fertilizers, energy, water, and recycling. Open to businesses representing the entire green industry, the Sustainability Award works to improve standards by elevating sustainability practices and rewarding businesses who are making an impact within the industry.
The 2018 Sustainability Award is an excellent way to get your business the national recognition it deserves for pursuing smart sustainability practices. Winners will gain credibility as industry leaders in the area of sustainability.
All items you submit become the property of AmericanHort and MPS. By entering the 2018 Sustainability Award competition, you attest that all information included in your entry is accurate and true to the best of your knowledge. Each company is permitted to submit one complete entry. We recommend you print the entry form and gather information you need before submitting your entry online. Please do not submit multiple entries.
Candidates for the 2018 Sustainability Award must:
Be a current AmericanHort member in good standing;
Demonstrate sustainability efforts in at least one of five categories: crop protection agents, fertilizers, energy, water, and recycling. Green industry breeders, greenhouse and nursery growers, garden retailers, distributors, interior and exterior landscape professionals, and florists are encouraged to enter.
The entry period will be open until May 18, 2018 at 5 p.m. EST. All entries must be submitted digitally through the online entry form by the entry deadline: May 18, 2018 at 5 p.m. EST. No mailed entries will be accepted. No late entries will be accepted.
A panel of industry experts will judge each entry based on the following criteria:
Uniqueness of sustainability practice/project
Quantity and quality of practice in sustainability area(s) pursued (crop protection agents, fertilizers, energy, water, and recycling)
Demonstrated value to business operations
Demonstrated community impact
Scalability of standard
All finalists will be notified by June 1, 2018. One winner will be chosen out of all finalists and will be announced at Cultivate'18. The winner will receive a plaque and a $500 grant to be used to continue sustainability efforts in their local community. The winner may be featured in subsequent AmericanHort Connect issues, webinars, and other media outlets. He/she must be available for media interviews, including videos, and photographs.
